وقال محمد الثبيتي لـ«عكاظ»: مزرعتي مكونة من العديد من الأشجار المثمرة كالعنب والتين والنخيل، إلا أن قلة المياه تهددها في تدني مستوى الثمرة من ناحية جودتها؛ لأن الثمرة عندما تكون ذات جودة عالية تحصل على السعر الجيد المقابل للتعب الذي يعاني منه أصحاب المزارع. وأضاف أن الطاقة الاستيعابية للسد انخفضت بشكل كبير؛ نظراً لتراكم الطين والأتربة على مدار سنوات دون أن تُرفع بواسطة شركات تشغيل وصيانة السدود المسؤولة عنه.

من جانبه، قال فهد الثبيتي إن أغلب سكان السيل الكبير يعتمدون على زراعة الأعلاف ومع قلة المياه في الآبار بدأت المزارع في الجفاف، ونطالب الشركة المسؤولة عن التشغيل والصيانة في سد السيل استخدام طرق أكثر فعالية في فتح انسداد عبارات السد، فالطرق المعمول بها في السد غير مفيدة.

ويطالب سكان السيل الكبير المسؤولين في فرع وزارة البيئة والمياه والزراعة في الطائف، السماح بتدفق المياه من السد لتعود الحياة للمزارع.

Mohammed Al-Thubaiti told "Okaz": My farm consists of many fruit trees such as grapes, figs, and palm trees, but the lack of water threatens the quality of the fruit; when the fruit is of high quality, it fetches a good price in return for the effort that farmers endure. He added that the dam's capacity has significantly decreased due to the accumulation of mud and dirt over the years without being cleared by the companies responsible for operating and maintaining the dam.

For his part, Fahd Al-Thubaiti stated that most residents of Al-Sail Al-Kabeer rely on growing fodder, and with the decreasing water levels in the wells, the farms have started to dry up. We demand that the company responsible for the operation and maintenance of the dam use more effective methods to clear the blockages in the dam's outlets, as the current methods in use are ineffective.

The residents of Al-Sail Al-Kabeer are calling on the officials at the branch of the Ministry of Environment, Water, and Agriculture in Taif to allow water to flow from the dam to revive the farms.
