حققت السعودية إنجازاً بيئياً عالمياً جديداً بتسجيلها رقماً قياسياً في موسوعة غينيس للأرقام القياسية تحت عنوان «أكبر مجموعة موسمية لتخزين البذور في العالم»، في خطوة تعكس التزامها المتواصل بحماية البيئة وتعزيز الاستدامة.

وتمكنت الفرق الميدانية من جمع 31 نوعاً من النباتات البرية المحلية، خضعت لعمليات دقيقة شملت مراحل تنقية البذور لإزالة الشوائب وبقايا النباتات الأخرى، قبل تخزينها وفق أعلى المعايير العالمية المعتمدة؛ إذ احتضنت مستودعات البذور أكثر من 95 طناً من البذور الرعوية والبرية، في إنجاز يعزز مكانة المملكة الريادية في الجهود البيئية، ويدعم مستهدفات رؤية المملكة 2030 في حماية الموارد الطبيعية ومكافحة التصحر.

جهود حثيثة

جاء ذلك تتويجاً لجهود حثيثة بذلها المركز الوطني لتنمية الغطاء النباتي ومكافحة التصحر على مدى عام كامل، جابت خلالها الفرق الميدانية المدربة والمتخصصة أرجاء المملكة؛ لتوفير كميات كبيرة من بذور النباتات المحلية، بما يدعم مشاريع تأهيل الأراضي المتدهورة، ودعم الاستدامة البيئية.
يُذكر أن المملكة حققت العديد من الإنجازات البيئية على المستويات الوطنية والإقليمية والعالمية، في إطار حرصها على تعزيز الاستدامة البيئية ضمن أهداف رؤية المملكة 2030، وبما يواكب المستهدفات العالمية نحو مكافحة التصحر والحد من آثار التغيرات المناخية.

Saudi Arabia has achieved a new global environmental milestone by setting a record in the Guinness World Records under the title "Largest Seasonal Collection of Seeds in the World," in a step that reflects its ongoing commitment to environmental protection and promoting sustainability.

The field teams managed to collect 31 species of local wild plants, which underwent precise processes including seed purification to remove impurities and remnants of other plants, before being stored according to the highest internationally recognized standards; the seed warehouses housed more than 95 tons of forage and wild seeds, in an achievement that enhances the Kingdom's pioneering position in environmental efforts and supports the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030 in protecting natural resources and combating desertification.

Relentless Efforts

This came as a culmination of relentless efforts made by the National Center for Vegetation Cover Development and Combating Desertification over the course of a full year, during which trained and specialized field teams traversed the Kingdom to provide large quantities of local plant seeds, supporting projects for rehabilitating degraded lands and promoting environmental sustainability.
It is worth noting that the Kingdom has achieved many environmental accomplishments at national, regional, and global levels, as part of its commitment to enhancing environmental sustainability within the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030, in line with global targets to combat desertification and mitigate the effects of climate change.
