كشفت صحيفة «فايننشال تايمز» البريطانية تحذير محللين ومصنّعين من أن على المستهلكين الاستعداد لارتفاع في أسعار هذا العام بنسبة تصل إلى 20% للهواتف الذكية وأجهزة الكمبيوتر والأجهزة المنزلية، وذلك نتيجةً لزيادة الطلب على الذكاء الاصطناعي الذي يرفع تكلفة رقائق الذاكرة المستخدمة في الإلكترونيات، وذلك في تقرير اطلعت عليه «العربية Business».
نقص الرقائق
وحذّرت شركات تصنيع الإلكترونيات الاستهلاكية من أن نقص رقائق المعالجات سيزيد على الأرجح من ضغوط التكاليف ويجبرها على رفع الأسعار، إذ يتوقع المحللون زيادات تراوح بين 5 و20%.
ونقلت «فايننشال تايمز»، عن الرئيس التنفيذي للعمليات في إحدى الشركات المتخصصة جيف كلارك، قوله: «إن الشركة لم تشهد قط ارتفاعاً في التكاليف بهذه الوتيرة الحالية، وإن التأثير سيطال المستهلكين حتماً».
ووصفت شركة بريطانية متخصصة في صناعة أجهزة الكمبيوتر، ضغوط التكاليف بأنها «مؤلمة» عندما رفعت أسعار أجهزة الكمبيوتر في ديسمبر الماضي، بينما قامت إحدى أكبر شركة مصنعة لأجهزة الكمبيوتر في العالم بتخزين رقائق الذاكرة والمكونات الأساسية الأخرى، وفقاً لما صرّح به المدير المالي وينستون تشينغ لتلفزيون «بلومبيرغ» في نوفمبر الماضي.
زيادة الطلب
وأدى التوسع العالمي في مراكز البيانات لتشغيل نماذج الذكاء الاصطناعي إلى زيادة الطلب على رقائق الذاكرة المتطورة ذات النطاق الترددي العالي، مما دفع مصنعي الرقائق إلى تقليل التركيز على أشباه الموصلات منخفضة التكلفة المستخدمة في الإلكترونيات الاستهلاكية، وفقاً لما نقلت «فايننشال تايمز» عن محللين.
وقد تسبب ذلك في نقص رقائق ذاكرة الوصول العشوائي الديناميكية (DRAM)، المستخدمة في كل شيء من السيارات إلى أجهزة الكمبيوتر لتخزين البيانات مؤقتاً، ونتيجة لذلك، قامت الشركات بتخزين الرقائق، مما أدى إلى ارتفاع أسعار أشباه الموصلات.
The British newspaper "Financial Times" revealed a warning from analysts and manufacturers that consumers should prepare for a price increase this year of up to 20% for smartphones, computers, and household appliances, due to the rising demand for artificial intelligence which raises the cost of memory chips used in electronics, according to a report seen by "Al Arabiya Business".
Chip Shortage
Consumer electronics manufacturers warned that the shortage of processor chips is likely to increase cost pressures and force them to raise prices, as analysts expect increases ranging from 5% to 20%.
The "Financial Times" quoted the Chief Operating Officer of a specialized company, Jeff Clark, saying: "The company has never seen costs rise at this current pace, and the impact will inevitably reach consumers."
A British company specializing in computer manufacturing described the cost pressures as "painful" when it raised computer prices last December, while one of the largest computer manufacturers in the world stockpiled memory chips and other essential components, according to what CFO Winston Cheng stated to Bloomberg TV last November.
Increased Demand
The global expansion of data centers to run artificial intelligence models has led to increased demand for advanced high-bandwidth memory chips, prompting chip manufacturers to reduce their focus on low-cost semiconductors used in consumer electronics, according to analysts quoted by the "Financial Times".
This has resulted in a shortage of dynamic random-access memory (DRAM) chips, used in everything from cars to computers for temporary data storage, and as a result, companies have been stockpiling chips, leading to rising semiconductor prices.
