اختُتمت أمس منافسات سباق درب العُلا 2026، وسط مشاركة واسعة من العدّائين من مختلف الأعمار والمستويات، من داخل المملكة وخارجها، في حدث رياضي جسّد المكانة المتنامية لمحافظة العُلا بوصفها إحدى أبرز الوجهات العالمية لرياضات التحمل والتحدي.
وجاء السباق ضمن روزنامة الفعاليات الرياضية الدولية، حيث استقطب نخبة من العدّائين المحترفين والهواة، الذين خاضوا مسارات متنوعة امتدت عبر معالم طبيعية وتاريخية، عكست تنوّع البيئة الجغرافية في العُلا، وجمعت بين الاستكشاف واختبار القدرة البدنية.
وتضمنت نسخة 2026 عددًا من السباقات التي لبت مختلف الفئات، من أبرزها سباق 100 كيلومتر الذي يُعد من أصعب سباقات التحمل، وسباق 50 كيلومترًا الذي مرّ عبر البلدة القديمة ومسارات طبيعية مميزة، إضافة إلى سباق درب جبل الفيل لمسافة 23 كيلومترًا، وسباق واحة العُلا لمسافة 10 كيلومترات المخصص للفئة العامة.
كما شهدت المنافسات تنظيم سباقات مخصصة للفئات العمرية الصغيرة، شملت سباق الغروب للأطفال من عمر 5 حتى 12 عامًا، وسباق الأطفال لمسافة 1.6 كيلومتر، إلى جانب سباق 3 كيلومترات للمشاركين بعمر 13 عامًا فأكثر، في إطار تعزيز مشاركة المجتمع ونشر ثقافة الرياضة بين مختلف الفئات العمرية.
واختُتمت منافسات السباق بمراسم تتويج العدّائين الفائزين، حيث تُوِّج المشاركون بالميداليات والجوائز في ختام الحدث، الذي امتدّت فعالياته حتى ساعات متأخرة من الليل، وسط البلدة القديمة، في مشهد عكس نجاح التنظيم والتفاعل الجماهيري المصاحب.
ويجسّد سباق درب العُلا ما تمتلكه المحافظة من مقومات طبيعية ومسارات مهيأة لاستضافة الفعاليات الرياضية الكبرى، إلى جانب إسهامه في تعزيز الحراك الرياضي والسياحي، وترسيخ حضور العُلا على خريطة الأحداث الرياضية العالمية.
The Al-Ula Trail Race 2026 concluded yesterday, with wide participation from runners of various ages and levels, both from within the Kingdom and abroad, in a sporting event that embodied the growing status of Al-Ula as one of the premier global destinations for endurance and challenge sports.
The race was part of the international sports events calendar, attracting a select group of professional and amateur runners who navigated diverse courses that spanned natural and historical landmarks, reflecting the geographical diversity of Al-Ula, combining exploration with physical endurance testing.
The 2026 edition included several races catering to different categories, most notably the 100-kilometer race, which is considered one of the toughest endurance races, and the 50-kilometer race that passed through the old town and distinctive natural trails, in addition to the Elephant Mountain Trail Race covering a distance of 23 kilometers, and the Al-Ula Oasis Race covering 10 kilometers designated for the general public.
The competitions also featured races specifically organized for younger age groups, including the Sunset Race for children aged 5 to 12 years, a 1.6-kilometer children's race, along with a 3-kilometer race for participants aged 13 and above, as part of efforts to enhance community participation and promote a culture of sports among various age groups.
The race competitions concluded with a ceremony to crown the winning runners, where participants were awarded medals and prizes at the end of the event, which extended into the late hours of the night, in the old town, in a scene that reflected the success of the organization and the accompanying public interaction.
The Al-Ula Trail Race exemplifies the natural resources and prepared pathways that the region possesses to host major sporting events, in addition to contributing to the enhancement of sports and tourism activities, and solidifying Al-Ula's presence on the map of global sporting events.
