أصدر الكاتب عبدالله العرفج روايته الأحدث «ورق الكافور»، وفيها يروي أثر وباء الطاعون الذي اجتاح الجزيرة العربية، واضطر تسعة رجال للرحلة من بريدة إلى الكويت طمعاً في الثراء. وبينهم «سَيْل» الذي ترك وراءه أهلاً وزوجة أحزنَهم رحيله.

وعقب تنقّله في أشغال عدّة، لينتهي به الأمر غوّاصاً يجمع اللآلئ، وخلال رحلة بحريّة، تتحطّم إحدى السفن التي لم يكن من ركّابها، لكنّ مريدي السوء في بريدة يفتعلون خبر وفاته، وينشرونه على لسان «المهابيل».

ثم حطّ سَيْل الرحال في الهند، فـ«الهند هندك إذا قلّ ما عندك». وفعلاً يرتقي هناك في التجارة ويصبح ثرياً، لكنّ طيف زوجته العنود لا يبارح مخيّلته، وبعدما حقّق ما هاجر في سبيل تحقيقه، آن أوان العودة، لكنّه يعود «ميتاً» بحسب سجلّات النفوس. فكيف سيثبت حياته؟ وكيف سيستعيد زوجته التي تزوّجتْ في غيابه مرغمة؟!.

The writer Abdullah Al-Arfaj has released his latest novel "The Camphor Paper," in which he narrates the impact of the plague that swept through the Arabian Peninsula, forcing nine men to journey from Buraidah to Kuwait in hopes of wealth. Among them is "Sail," who left behind a family and a wife saddened by his departure.

After moving through various jobs, he ultimately becomes a diver collecting pearls, and during a sea voyage, one of the ships he was not aboard sinks. However, ill-wishers in Buraidah fabricate news of his death and spread it through the mouths of "the fools."

Then Sail settles in India, for "India is yours if little is what you have." Indeed, he rises in trade there and becomes wealthy, but the specter of his wife Al-Anoud never leaves his imagination. After achieving what he had emigrated to accomplish, the time has come to return, but he comes back "dead" according to the civil records. How will he prove he is alive? And how will he reclaim his wife, who was forced to marry in his absence?!
