أعلنت شرطة عمان السلطانية، اليوم الثلاثاء، وفاة ثلاثة سياح من الجنسية الفرنسية وإصابة اثنين آخرين بجروح خفيفة، جراء انقلاب قارب سياحي كان يقل فوجاً سياحياً قبالة سواحل ولاية مطرح في محافظة مسقط.
ووفقاً لبيان رسمي صادر عن الشرطة، كان القارب يحمل على متنه 25 سائحاً فرنسياً، إضافة إلى مرشد سياحي وقبطان القارب، ما مجموعه 27 شخصاً، ووقعت الحادثة على بعد حوالى 2.5 ميل بحري من ميناء السلطان قابوس، في مياه خليج عمان.
وأوضح البيان أن فرق الإنقاذ التابعة للهيئة العامة للدفاع المدني والإسعاف هرعت إلى موقع الحادثة فور تلقي البلاغ، إذ تم انتشال الضحايا الثلاثة الذين فارقوا الحياة في مكان الحادثة، فيما تلقى المصابان الإسعافات الأولية في الموقع قبل نقلهما لتلقي العلاج اللازم. ولم يُبلغ عن إصابات أخرى بين بقية الركاب أو الطاقم.
وأكدت السلطات العمانية أن التحقيقات ما زالت جارية لتحديد أسباب الحادثة بدقة، وسط توقعات أولية تشير إلى احتمال تأثير عوامل بحرية مثل الأمواج أو الرياح أو خطأ بشري أو خلل فني في القارب.
وتُعد سلطنة عُمان وجهة سياحية بحرية شهيرة، خصوصاً في منطقة مسقط وولاية مطرح، إذ تجذب آلاف السياح سنوياً للاستمتاع برحلات القوارب السياحية، مشاهدة الدلافين، الغوص، والتجول في المياه الزرقاء لخليج عمان، وغالباً ما تُنظم هذه الرحلات عبر شركات سياحية مرخصة تقدم جولات يومية آمنة.
وكانت السلطات العمانية قد شددت في السنوات الأخيرة على معايير السلامة البحرية، بما في ذلك إلزام الشركات السياحية بتوفير سترات النجاة الكافية وأجهزة الاتصال والإنقاذ على متن جميع القوارب.
The Royal Oman Police announced today, Tuesday, the death of three tourists of French nationality and the injury of two others with minor wounds, due to the capsizing of a tourist boat that was carrying a tourist group off the coast of the Wilayat of Muscat.
According to an official statement issued by the police, the boat was carrying 25 French tourists, in addition to a tour guide and the boat's captain, making a total of 27 people. The incident occurred approximately 2.5 nautical miles from Sultan Qaboos Port, in the waters of the Gulf of Oman.
The statement clarified that rescue teams from the Public Authority for Civil Defense and Ambulance rushed to the scene of the incident immediately after receiving the report, where the three victims who lost their lives were retrieved at the scene, while the injured were given first aid on-site before being transported for necessary treatment. No other injuries were reported among the remaining passengers or crew.
Omani authorities confirmed that investigations are still ongoing to accurately determine the causes of the incident, with preliminary expectations suggesting the possible influence of maritime factors such as waves or winds, human error, or a technical malfunction in the boat.
The Sultanate of Oman is considered a popular maritime tourist destination, especially in the Muscat area and the Wilayat of Mutrah, attracting thousands of tourists annually to enjoy boat trips, dolphin watching, diving, and exploring the blue waters of the Gulf of Oman. These trips are often organized by licensed tour companies that provide safe daily excursions.
In recent years, Omani authorities have emphasized maritime safety standards, including requiring tour companies to provide adequate life jackets and communication and rescue devices on all boats.
