على خلفية تصاعد حدة التوتر بين الولايات المتحدة وإيران، أفصح رئيس البرلمان الإيراني محمد باقر قاليباف، أن طهران مستعدة للتفاوض مع واشنطن، شريطة أن تكون المحادثات حقيقية.
وأعرب عن اعتقاده «أن هذا هو نوع التفاوض الذي يريده الرئيس دونالد ترمب، بل يريد فقط فرض إرادته على الآخرين»، حسب قوله.
واعتبر قاليباف أن ترمب يستطيع أن يبدأ حرباً، لكنه لن يتمكن من السيطرة عليها أو إنهائها.
وحذر في مقابلة مع شبكة «سي أن أن»، اليوم (الخميس )، من أن المفاوضات في ظل الحرب تُؤجّج التوترات، مشددا على أن «الدبلوماسية يجب أن تكون حقيقية، وقائمة على الاحترام المتبادل، ومصحوبة بضمانات. وقال لا مجال للتفاوض حتى تُضمن المصالح الاقتصادية للشعب الإيراني، لأننا لا نعتبر الإملاء تفاوضاً.
ولفت إلى أنه إذا أراد ترمب الحصول على جائزة نوبل للسلام، فعليه أن يبتعد عن دعاة الحرب من حوله، وفق تعبيره.
أما عن عدد القتلى الذين سقطوا في إيران خلال الأسابيع الماضية، فقال قاليباف إن جهات خارجية كانت وراء مخطط صُمّم بالكامل خارج البلاد من أجل زعزعة الاستقرار.
ووعد رئيس البرلمان بمحاكمة سريعة للمسؤولين عن الأحداث، محذراً من أن الحكومة لن تتراجع أبداً عن السعي للثأر لدماء نحو 300 من عناصر الأمن الذين قال إنهم قُتلوا خلال الاحتجاجات.
واعترف رئيس البرلمان بوجود مشكلات اقتصادية داخل البلاد، قد يكون بعضها ناتجاً عن سوء إدارة، إلا أنه أنحى باللائمة على الضغوط الاستبدادية التي تفرضها العقوبات الأمريكية.
وفي ما يتعلق بحشد القوات الأمريكية في المنطقة، حذر قاليباف واشنطن من أن بلاده سترد إذا تعرضت لأي هجوم، مما يعرض آلاف الجنود الأمريكيين للخطر. وقال: «ربما يستطيع ترمب أن يبدأ حرباً، لكنه لا يملك السيطرة على كيفية انتهائها».
Amid escalating tensions between the United States and Iran, Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf revealed that Tehran is ready to negotiate with Washington, provided that the talks are genuine.
He expressed his belief that "this is the kind of negotiation that President Donald Trump wants; he only wants to impose his will on others," according to his statement.
Qalibaf considered that Trump can start a war, but he will not be able to control or end it.
In an interview with CNN today (Thursday), he warned that negotiations during wartime exacerbate tensions, emphasizing that "diplomacy must be genuine, based on mutual respect, and accompanied by guarantees." He stated that there is no room for negotiation until the economic interests of the Iranian people are ensured, as they do not consider imposition to be negotiation.
He pointed out that if Trump wants to win the Nobel Peace Prize, he should distance himself from the war advocates around him, as he put it.
Regarding the number of casualties in Iran over the past weeks, Qalibaf said that foreign entities were behind a plan that was entirely designed outside the country to destabilize the situation.
The Parliament Speaker promised a swift trial for those responsible for the events, warning that the government would never back down from seeking revenge for the blood of about 300 security personnel who he said were killed during the protests.
Qalibaf acknowledged the existence of economic problems within the country, some of which may be due to mismanagement, but he blamed the oppressive pressures imposed by U.S. sanctions.
Regarding the buildup of U.S. forces in the region, Qalibaf warned Washington that his country would respond if it were attacked, putting thousands of American soldiers at risk. He said, "Maybe Trump can start a war, but he does not have control over how it ends."
