في مشهد صادم يروي صراع الإنسان مع قوى الطبيعة، فقد صياد زامبي حياته بطريقة مأساوية لم يتوقعها أحد، بعد مطاردة قاتلة من اثنين من أضخم أعداء البشر في البرية: الفيلة وتمساح النيل.

كان الصياد دين نيريندا (52 عاماً) عائداً من رحلة صيد مع صديقين، حين فوجئ بقطيع من الفيلة العملاقة يغلق طريقه. وفي لحظة رعب مطلقة، ركض نحو نهر لوانغوا محاولاً النجاة، لكن النهر كان يخبئ له نهاية صادمة، إذ باغته تمساح ضخم على الفور، فعض فخذه الأيمن بعنف هائل، وحاول نيريندا مقاومته بعصا في يده، لكن قوة التمساح كانت أكبر. زحف خارج الماء لفترة قصيرة، بينما رفيقاه يراقبان الرعب، إلا أن النزيف الحاد أنهى حياته، وسقط على الأرض ضحية لجريمة الطبيعية.

يذكر أن نهر لوانغوا (الذي يمر عبر متنزه جنوب لوانغوا الوطني) ليس فقط موطناً لتماسيح النيل الأكثر خطورة في أفريقيا، بل يُعرف أيضاً بالتجمع الهائل للفيلة حوله، ما جعله مسرحاً لكارثة طبيعية مميتة. ولهذا دعت السلطات السكان والسياح إلى توخي أقصى درجات الحذر، مشيرة إلى ضرورة إقامة أسوار حماية وتطبيق إجراءات وقائية عاجلة لتجنب حوادث مماثلة قد تتحول إلى مآسٍ.

In a shocking scene that narrates the struggle of man against the forces of nature, Zambian hunter Dean Nirenda lost his life in a tragic manner that no one expected, after a deadly chase from two of humanity's largest foes in the wild: elephants and the Nile crocodile.

Hunter Dean Nirenda (52 years old) was returning from a hunting trip with two friends when he was surprised by a herd of giant elephants blocking his path. In a moment of absolute terror, he ran towards the Luangwa River in an attempt to escape, but the river concealed a shocking end for him, as a massive crocodile ambushed him immediately, biting his right thigh with tremendous force. Nirenda tried to resist with a stick in his hand, but the crocodile's strength was greater. He crawled out of the water for a brief moment while his companions watched in horror, but the severe bleeding ended his life, and he fell to the ground a victim of nature's crime.

It is worth noting that the Luangwa River (which flows through South Luangwa National Park) is not only home to the most dangerous Nile crocodiles in Africa, but is also known for the massive gathering of elephants around it, making it a stage for a deadly natural disaster. For this reason, authorities have urged residents and tourists to exercise the utmost caution, pointing out the need to erect protective fences and implement urgent preventive measures to avoid similar incidents that could turn into tragedies.
