أكد رئيس جامعة إقليم سبأ الدكتور محمد حمود القدسي أن الدعم المستمر الذي تقدمه المملكة العربية السعودية لليمن عبر ذراعها التنموي البرنامج السعودي لتنمية وإعمار اليمن يمثل امتداداً طبيعياً للدور الأخوي والتنموي الراسخ الذي تضطلع به المملكة تجاه الشعب اليمني، مشدداً على أن هذا الدور يتجاوز الاستجابة المؤقتة للظروف الراهنة إلى آفاق أوسع تتمثل في بناء مقومات التنمية المستدامة والاستثمار الفعلي في الإنسان اليمني.
وقال الدكتور القدسي في حوار خاص لـ«عكاظ»: «إن ما يقدمه البرنامج السعودي لتنمية وإعمار اليمن من مشاريع نوعية في مختلف القطاعات يعكس رؤية تنموية واعية بأهمية تشييد المؤسسات وتعزيز قدراتها لأداء أدوارها الحيوية»، مشيراً إلى أن لجامعة إقليم سبأ نصيباً وافراً من هذا الدعم الذي ترك أثراً ملموساً وجذرياً في تطوير بنيتها التحتية ورفع كفاءتها الأكاديمية.
تطوير البنية التحتية واستيعاب الأعداد المتزايدة
وأوضح رئيس جامعة إقليم سبأ أن المشاريع المنفذة عبر البرنامج السعودي أسهمت بصورة مباشرة في تعزيز البيئة التعليمية وتوفير مساحات أوسع لاستيعاب الطلبة، وفي مقدمتها إنشاء 16 قاعة دراسية متكاملة مع مرفقاتها، إلى جانب تشييد مبنى إداري حديث يضم مكاتب نيابات رئاسة الجامعة الثلاث (نيابة شؤون الطلبة، نيابة الدراسات العليا والبحث العلمي، نيابة الشؤون الأكاديمية).
ولفت القدسي إلى أن محافظة مأرب تواجه تحدياً سكانياً ومسؤولية كبرى باعتبارها أبرز حواضر اليمن التي احتضنت أعداداً غفيرة من النازحين؛ من بينهم آلاف الطلبة الذين وجدوا في الجامعة ملاذاً آمناً لاستكمال مسيرتهم التعليمية، مضيفاً أن الجامعة تعاملت مع هذا الواقع بمسؤولية عبر التوسع في برامجها ورفع طاقتها الاستيعابية لتلبية حاجات أبناء مأرب والنازحين من كافة المحافظات اليمنية.
مشروع كلية الطب ريادة إستراتيجية
وكشف الدكتور القدسي محطة إستراتيجية بالغة الأهمية شهدتها الجامعة في عام 2024، المتمثلة في وضع حجر الأساس لمشروع «كلية الطب»، وهو مشروع نوعي يمثل ضرورة ملحة لمحافظة مأرب لرفد المنظومة الصحية بالكوادر المؤهلة، معرباً عن تطلعه لسرعة استكمال هذا المشروع الحيوي وبدء تشغيله، ليمثل إضافة نوعية لمنظومة التعليم الجامعي، ويعزز قدرة الجامعة على أداء رسالتها الأكاديمية والمجتمعية كاستثمار طويل الأمد يخدم أجيالاً متعاقبة.

وفي معرض حديثه عن الدور الفكري والتنويري للجامعات، شدد الدكتور القدسي على أن «التعليم في جوهره هو معركة الوعي، والجامعة هي إحدى أهم ساحات هذه المعركة؛ إذ لا تكتفي بمنح المعرفة والتخصص، بل تسهم في بناء شخصية الطالب، وترسيخ قيم المواطنة، والانتماء، والاعتدال، واحترام النظام والقانون».
وأكد القدسي أن افتتاح صروح العلم في مأرب يبعث برسالة قادرة على تحدي الظروف بأن اليمن ماضٍ في بناء مؤسساته، معتبرًا أن كل قاعة دراسية وكل مشروع تعليمي هو لبنة في بناء الدولة، وانتصار للمعرفة على الجهل، وللتنوير على الفكر المنغلق، مؤكداً أن المعركة الوطنية لا تحسم في الميدان العسكري وحده، بل ببناء الإنسان الواعي القادر على التمييز بين الحقائق والأفكار الهدامة.
وأشار إلى أن الجامعة تؤدي دوراً محورياً في تحصين الشباب فكرياً عبر تعزيز العقل النقدي وثقافة الحوار وقبول الآخر، موضحاً أن حماية الأجيال تبدأ بتوفير تعليم نوعي وبيئة آمنة تربط الطالب بقضايا مجتمعه وهويته الوطنية.

كما خص بالشكر سفير خادم الحرمين الشريفين لدى اليمن المشرف العام على البرنامج السعودي لتنمية وإعمار اليمن السفير محمد سعيد آل جابر، مثمناً جهوده الحثيثة في متابعة وتنسيق المشاريع التنموية التي طالت جامعة إقليم سبأ وعززت مسيرتها التعليمية والتنموية.
The President of the University of the Saba Region, Dr. Mohammed Hamoud Al-Qudsi, confirmed that the continuous support provided by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to Yemen through its developmental arm, the Saudi Program for Development and Reconstruction of Yemen, represents a natural extension of the brotherly and developmental role that the Kingdom plays towards the Yemeni people. He emphasized that this role goes beyond a temporary response to the current circumstances to broader horizons represented in building the foundations of sustainable development and actual investment in the Yemeni human being.
Dr. Al-Qudsi said in a special interview with "Okaz": "What the Saudi Program for Development and Reconstruction of Yemen offers in terms of quality projects across various sectors reflects a conscious developmental vision regarding the importance of establishing institutions and enhancing their capabilities to perform their vital roles." He pointed out that the University of the Saba Region has a significant share of this support, which has left a tangible and fundamental impact on developing its infrastructure and raising its academic efficiency.
Infrastructure Development and Accommodating Increasing Numbers
The President of the University of the Saba Region explained that the projects implemented through the Saudi program have directly contributed to enhancing the educational environment and providing wider spaces to accommodate students, foremost among them the establishment of 16 fully equipped classrooms along with their facilities, in addition to constructing a modern administrative building that includes the offices of the three Vice Presidents of the university (Vice Presidency for Student Affairs, Vice Presidency for Graduate Studies and Scientific Research, Vice Presidency for Academic Affairs).
Al-Qudsi pointed out that the Marib Governorate faces a demographic challenge and a major responsibility as it is one of the most prominent cities in Yemen that has hosted a large number of displaced persons, including thousands of students who found in the university a safe haven to continue their educational journey. He added that the university has dealt with this reality responsibly by expanding its programs and increasing its capacity to meet the needs of the people of Marib and the displaced from all Yemeni governorates.
The Medical College Project: A Strategic Leadership
Dr. Al-Qudsi revealed a strategically significant milestone that the university witnessed in 2024, represented in laying the foundation stone for the "Medical College" project, which is a qualitative project that represents an urgent necessity for the Marib Governorate to supply the health system with qualified personnel. He expressed his hope for the swift completion of this vital project and its commencement of operation, to represent a qualitative addition to the university education system and enhance the university's ability to fulfill its academic and community mission as a long-term investment serving successive generations.

Al-Qudsi affirmed that the opening of educational institutions in Marib sends a message capable of challenging the circumstances that Yemen is moving forward in building its institutions, considering that every classroom and every educational project is a building block in the construction of the state, and a victory for knowledge over ignorance, and for enlightenment over closed-minded thinking. He stressed that the national battle is not only settled in the military field but also by building an aware human being capable of distinguishing between facts and destructive ideas.
He pointed out that the university plays a pivotal role in intellectually fortifying youth by enhancing critical thinking, a culture of dialogue, and acceptance of others, explaining that protecting generations begins with providing quality education and a safe environment that connects the student to the issues of their community and national identity.
