أثارت امرأة في مدينة شنغهاي انتباه الشرطة وسكان حيّها، بعد إقدامها على تحريك مرآة مرور عامة بشكل متكرر، بدافع حماية ما اعتبرته «طاقة منزلها الإيجابية» وفق مبادئ فنغ شوي، في تصرف انتهى بالتسبب في سلسلة من حوادث السير.
ويُعد فنغ شوي، الذي يعني حرفيًا «الريح والماء»، إحدى الممارسات الثقافية الصينية القديمة التي تهدف إلى تنظيم المكان بطريقة تضمن تدفق الطاقة، أو ما يُعرف بـ«تشي»، وتحقيق التوازن النفسي والروحي داخل المنازل.
وبحسب ما أفادت به تقارير محلية، بدأت مخاوف المرأة بعد تعرّضها وعائلتها لسلسلة من الأحداث غير السعيدة، أرجعها خبير فنغ شوي إلى وجود مرآة مرور مثبتة في الشارع ومواجهة مباشرة لمنزلهم، واصفًا إياها بأنها «تكشف الأرواح الشريرة» وتعيد توجيه الطاقة السلبية نحو البيت.
وتحظى المرايا بمكانة حساسة في فلسفة فنغ شوي، إذ يُعتقد أن وضعها مقابل الأبواب أو الأسرّة قد يؤدي إلى انعكاس طاقة غير مرغوبة، تتسبب في القلق واضطرابات النوم والكوابيس. غير أن المرآة محل الجدل كانت تؤدي دورًا أساسيًا في تأمين رؤية واضحة للسائقين عند منعطف حاد، ما يجعل وجودها ضرورة مرورية لا غنى عنها.
وبسعيها لتغيير حظها، قامت المرأة بتعديل اتجاه المرآة بحيث لا تواجه منزلها، لكن هذا القرار انعكس سلبًا على مستخدمي الطريق، الذين فقدوا وسيلة أساسية لتقدير حركة السير، ما أدى إلى وقوع حوادث متكررة بين ديسمبر ويناير 2026.
ومع تصاعد شكاوى السكان، تدخلت الشركة المالكة للعقارات في المنطقة، وقامت بتركيب مرآة مرور إضافية على الجانب الآخر من الشارع. إلا أن المرأة، بحسب الروايات، أعادت تحريك المرآة الجديدة أيضًا، معتبرة أنها جلبت لعائلتها «موجة جديدة من سوء الحظ»، الأمر الذي فاقم غضب الجيران ودفعهم إلى إبلاغ الشرطة.
وذكرت صحيفة ساوث تشاينا مورنينج بوست أن السلطات حذّرت الزوجين من أن العبث بمرافق السلامة العامة قد يُعد جريمة يعاقب عليها القانون، وقد يحمّلهما مسؤولية أي حوادث تقع نتيجة هذا السلوك. وفي خطوة حاسمة، قامت شركة العقارات لاحقًا بتثبيت المرآتين بالأسمنت لمنع العبث بهما مجددًا.
وفي تصريح لتلفزيون شنغهاي، دافع زوج المرأة، المعروف بلقب «لو»، عن تصرفات زوجته، مؤكدًا قناعته بتفسير خبير فنغ شوي، وقال: «لسنا شياطين، ولسنا مرتاحين لوجود مرآة يُعتقد أنها تكشف الشياطين وموجهة مباشرة إلى منزلنا».

According to local reports, the woman's concerns began after she and her family experienced a series of unfortunate events, which a Feng Shui expert attributed to the presence of a traffic mirror installed in the street directly facing their home, describing it as "revealing evil spirits" and redirecting negative energy towards the house.
Mirrors hold a sensitive position in Feng Shui philosophy, as it is believed that placing them opposite doors or beds can lead to the reflection of unwanted energy, causing anxiety, sleep disturbances, and nightmares. However, the controversial mirror played a crucial role in providing clear visibility for drivers at a sharp turn, making its presence an indispensable traffic necessity.
In her attempt to change her luck, the woman adjusted the direction of the mirror so that it no longer faced her home, but this decision negatively impacted road users, who lost a crucial means of gauging traffic flow, leading to repeated accidents between December and January 2026.
As complaints from residents escalated, the property management company in the area intervened and installed an additional traffic mirror on the opposite side of the street. However, the woman, according to reports, also moved the new mirror, believing it brought her family "a new wave of bad luck," which exacerbated the neighbors' anger and prompted them to notify the police.
The South China Morning Post reported that authorities warned the couple that tampering with public safety facilities could be considered a criminal offense, and they could be held responsible for any accidents resulting from this behavior. In a decisive move, the property company later cemented both mirrors in place to prevent further tampering.
In a statement to Shanghai television, the woman's husband, known by the surname "Lu," defended his wife's actions, affirming his belief in the Feng Shui expert's interpretation, saying: "we are not demons, and we are not comfortable with a mirror believed to reveal demons facing directly towards our home."
